Tour Program
01 İzmir – Madrid
Meeting with our valued guests at the international departures terminal of Adnan Menderes Airport at least 3 hours before the flight. Following ticket, baggage, and passport procedures, departure at 15:20 to Madrid on SunExpress Airlines’ scheduled flight. Arrival in Madrid at 18:45 local time. After arrival, we leave the airport, transfer to our hotel, and overnight at the hotel.
02 Madrid
After breakfast at the hotel, we depart and begin our Madrid city tour. We start with Plaza Mayor, the large square. This square has 136 buildings and 437 balconies opening onto its courtyards. In the past, bullfights and executions by the Inquisition were watched from these balconies. Among the places to be seen are Puerta del Sol, the heart of the city; Plaza Mayor, the large square; Plaza de Oriente, the square where the Royal Palace addresses the public; the Alcalá Gate, built as an entrance gate to show the city’s wealth; Gran Vía, with its gallery-style roofs; Plaza Colón; Cibeles Square and Fountain; and the Cervantes Monument.
In the afternoon, guests who wish may join the Toledo Tour (65 Euro), which will be arranged as an extra by our guide. Toledo is a true open-air museum and the former capital of Spain, one of the most important cities on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Its magnificent cathedral rivals the world’s leading museums by housing works of world-famous artists. Known as the city of El Greco, Toledo has managed to remain unchanged since the 16th century. Buildings bearing traces of Roman, Visigothic, Arab, Gothic, and Renaissance architecture, narrow streets, paintings by El Greco, traditional pastry shops, Damascene stores, and of course its famous cathedral make it a highly touristic destination. Another tradition in Toledo is the production of marzipan, dating back to the time when the Arabs conquered the city. A visit to Toledo would not be complete without tasting this sweet that makes one’s mouth water. After our walk through the Jewish Quarter, we head to our hotel in Madrid. Overnight at our hotel.
03 Madrid
After breakfast, free time. Guests who wish may join the Segovia & Ávila Tour. (80 Euros) On this tour, where we will explore the UNESCO World Heritage cities of Segovia and Ávila, both located near Madrid, we embark on a historical and cultural journey. In Segovia, the Roman aqueduct, Gothic cathedral, and the Alcázar Castle, which inspired fairy tales, will be among the sights seen on our panoramic and walking tour. Then we head to Ávila, famous for its walls that still preserve the atmosphere of the Middle Ages, and enjoy a pleasant walk in this ancient city known as the city of Saint Teresa. In the final part of our tour, we will have free time at Las Rozas Village Outlet, one of Madrid’s most popular shopping centers. After the tour, transfer to our hotel and overnight at our hotel.
04 Madrid – Zaragoza – Barcelona
After breakfast in the morning, we will depart for Barcelona. Guests who wish may join the Zaragoza Tour (30 Euro), organized as an extra by our guide. During the tour, we will see the Ebro River, the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, the La Seo Cathedral, San Pablo Church, Plaza Espana, and the Pilar Bridge among the places to be visited. Barcelona, the capital of the Autonomous Community of Catalonia and Spain’s second-largest city, where the magnificent works of the famous architect Antoni Gaudí are located, attracts four times its population in tourists thanks to its remarkable landmarks. At the end of our tour, transfer to our hotel. Overnight at our hotel.
05 Barcelona
After breakfast at the hotel, guests who wish may join the Girona & Figueres Tour (100 Euro), which our guide will organize as an optional excursion. We begin our tour with Girona, the richest city in the region, founded on the banks of the Onyar River and at first glance reminiscent of Florence. This charming medieval city, with its narrow streets and cathedral, is also where the filming of the movie *Perfume* took place. During our panoramic tour, we will see the Lion Statue, Cathedral Square, the houses with mezuzahs, the Jewish Quarter, La Rambla, and its famous shops.
After free time, we head toward the city of Figueres with the views of the Pyrenees Mountains. This town has such an impressive atmosphere that it inspired the endlessly imaginative painter Salvador Dalí throughout his life. Here, we will visit the museum-house of the famous surrealist painter “Salvador Dalí,” which he decorated with his own hands. In this museum, where each of his works is worth millions of dollars, and where his immortal love Gala is portrayed, we will visit the museum containing his mind-bending works, after which we will transfer to our hotel. Overnight at our hotel.
06 Barcelona
After breakfast at the hotel, guests who wish may join the optional Park Güell & Gothic Quarter tour. (80 Euro) This park, protected by UNESCO and known as the “fairy-tale park,” is a work by Antoni Gaudí. With its colorful main staircase and imaginary pavilions, it creates a magical atmosphere. After our visit, we head toward the Gothic Quarter. You will enjoy your time in the Gothic Quarter with its medieval buildings, romantic squares, Roman walls, churches, labyrinth-like streets, cafés, and souvenir shops. After the tour, guests who wish may also join the optional Sitges Tour (60 Euro). Sitges is located 35 km southwest of Barcelona. It has the spirit of a typical Mediterranean town and, with its perfect location between the mountains and the sea, it has become one of the most popular destinations in recent years. We begin our visit at the magical steps of the San Bartolome-Santa Tecla Cathedral and wander through its historic streets. Dating back to the 17th century, this cathedral was built on the remains of earlier Romanesque and Gothic churches. After admiring this magnificent cathedral, our next journey takes us through the historic streets of Sitges, where within the old medieval town center we will see the Maricel Palace and Museum, a true paradise for art lovers and collectors as one of the exquisite examples of Modernism. Right across from it is the Cau Ferrat Museum, the home of Santiago Rusiñol, one of the leaders of the modernist movement in Catalonia. As he began exhibiting his paintings here in Sitges, he played a major role in making the town so well known. After seeing the colorful houses and charming bars in the narrow streets where the annual Sitges Festival, a venue for horror and fantasy films that attracts thousands of visitors each year, is held, we will continue toward the beach and spend the rest of our time enjoying the day there like the locals. After the tour, we transfer back to our hotel. Overnight at our hotel.
